Collier True Value Hardware was established May 1, 1961, when Fort Lauderdale was still
very undeveloped. Founded by Roger Simpson and Earl
H. Collier, Sr., the store was originally named Simpson
Collier Hardware.
The store serviced the areas of Ft. Lauderdale,
Wilton Manors and Pompano Beach. For
over 34 years Collier has been established in Oakland Park,
Florida, and has played a leading role in the hardware and
home improvement market in South Florida.
At the time it was opened,
Simpson Collier Hardware occupied the space next to Floranada
Drugs on NE 45th Street. As time passed, it expanded into
the drugstore space, growing to what it is today.

Earl and Doris Collier bought
the store from Roger Simpson in March 1971. Earl Collier's
son Bud and wife Judy worked together with them from the
start and took over September 1, 1983.
The second generation Collier
remodeled the store two times between 1983 and 1993. In the
late 80's a computerized inventory system was added to the
business.
In 1993, Bud & Judy entered
the True Value franchise family. With a unique pool of knowledge
and product, they began a new chapter in this family owned & operated
business. They began by adding a Screen and Window Department.
More inventory and services followed. In July of 1998 the
Colliers began a total remodeling of the space with the help
of True Value. National name brands and products were added.
In May 2002 Chip & Kim
Edgar bought the business from Bud and Judy Collier. Upon
the acquisition, several more Specialty Departments were
created... a Paint Shop, Tool Shop and Marine Shop... More
products & brands were brought in. Access to over 70,000
True Value Products became a reality. This is just the beginning!
Collier has and will continue
to commit a considerable amount of investment in its people,
store, products and services to insure customer satisfaction.
This hardware store has every nook and cranny filled with
stock, ranging from a single screw to garden fountains to
mailboxes to unique gifts... It's the type of store to which
you always want to come back.
